Time management skills are one of the most important parts of our life. If we do not use it properly, it can stop us from growing in life. If you want to control your life, you will have to manage your time. By doing Time Management we can know the value of our time. Time Management can take you up and above from any stage of your life.

We all have 24 hours. Someone manages his time by saying he does not have time, and someone becomes a successful man in that time by systematically using his Time. There are 7 ways of Time Management which can help you as a student, teacher, housewife or as a person to grow up in life. 

1. Track Your Time –

Time Management skills starts with keeping track of your time. First find out where you spend all your time during the day. For this you do a simple exercise, your life is going on as it is, just write down the complete data of your time for the next one week. 

At the end of the week you will know where your time is going. When you realize where your time is being wasted the most, then replace it with a good hobby. Or manage your time according to your goal.

2. Make a To-Do  list –

Your next day starts from last night. If you want to manage your time then you will have to start from last night because most of us spend our day thinking about “what we have to do today” when we get up early in the morning

For this, before sleeping at night, we have to make a to-do list of our most important tasks for the next day. And one by one we have to complete them. So our time will not be wasted in thinking about what we have to do today. 

In the to-do list you can list your important work like, ‘today i’ll work on improving my communication skill so i’ll overcome my fear of public speaking’. You can include your most important thing on top of your to-do list. 

Now you have a to-do list, so just keep doing that list and keep ticking it. At the end of the day, with your last tick you will feel good and that will also increase your confidence which you can see in your confident body language.

3. Use Pomodoro Technique for increase focus–

In this technique we have to take a 5 minute break after 25 minutes of any work. You can drink water or just take a walk for 5 minute breaks. You can do it for like 25 minutes of work and 5 minutes of break. 

This thing always keeps your mind fresh and increases your focus on work. You can do Pomodoro Technique four times to complete one cycle and then you can take a long break of 15-20 minutes and then start the cycle again.

4. Avoid procrastination by the ‘Eat that Frog First’ technique –

Our mind is set to save ourselves from difficult tasks and we always say this line “abhi nahi karna, abhi time hai baad main kar lunga”. If you want to do any work we need a reason. 

There is a technique for this, ‘Eat that frog first technique’ which tells us to do the most difficult task of our day first. So that now you will not be worried that I did not do anything today. You have to decide your priority. Whether these tasks are the most important tasks, I have to do the most difficult tasks first. 

For example, as a student, if you don’t like mathematics you feel angry or feel lazy while doing mathematics because it’s tough, then you have to give the first 3 hours of the day to mathematics. The difficult work will be done first. This thing increases your confidence. Now you just have to do the easy work.

5. Stop multitasking-

Most people think that if they do multiple tasks at a time it saves time, but this is a myth because multitasking makes us focus on 2-3 tasks at the same time which takes away our attention. It distracts us and reduces our efficiency. Multitasking has a negative impact on our memory power.  

If we focus on only one work at a time, it not only increases your efficiency but also increases your concentration power because,  when you do only one work at a time, it reduces your distraction and we do work faster. When we finish our work before time it will increase your self confidence. 

6. Set a time For distractions –

Distraction is one of the major reasons why we are not able to manage our time, because most of the time we get distracted through mobile, TV. To overcome this, we don’t have to avoid them, we just have to schedule a ‘Time of Distraction’ for them. Like –

 We can manage time for mobile or our TV shows according to our work in the afternoon or night or after finishing all our important tasks like reading books or learning a new skill. We have to maintain discipline in ourselves to do all tasks after overcoming procrastination

After all the important work now we can enjoy our time with distractions like watching mobile or TV shows or do whatever we want because we get all our important work done.

7. Set High Goals in Life –

If you really want to know time management skills then set a high goal in life because, ‘Khali Dimag Shaitan ka Ghar’ which means if you have nothing to do then your mind is always searching for ways to pass time. 

and you will never be able to do time management. Then set a high goal in your chosen career, make a process to achieve that goal, break this process into yearly, monthly, weekly and daily tasks and motivate yourself to  just do it.

Bonus PointConsistency is the key to success in any field or mastering the work. 

Mastering Time Management skills is a lifelong Process.

Now you choose for yourself how many techniques you can use and be consistent with that. It doesn’t matter how many things you choose, but consistency is the key to success because, 

Every new habit takes time to show results, for this you have to be patient and do it continuously for at least 90 days to show results. You have to keep doing it. which will change your life.

(i) Time management starts with Tracking your time and utilizing your waste time to up skill yourself. 

(ii) Make a To-Do list or use any one technique for yourself which helps you in time management. My favorite is Number 4. 

(iii) Set a High goal in life otherwise you always feel lost in life and you never manage your time or anything in life.
